(Or perhaps they really do suck)

Recently, on my Medium adventure (so kitsch, I know), I have been messing around with my work to attempt to get more reads. Initially, when I started putting effort into it, I actually started to accumulate a reasonable amount of reads. My first month put me into three figures — not too shabby.

There are still one or two stories that still earn me a reasonable amount of money each month, but several of my pieces — ones that I feel are a great representation of my humour and work — have completely flown under the radar.

I’m still experimenting with timing my publications, as it seems a lot of my readers are in the US while I’m tapping away here in Ireland. Although there are obviously many timezones within the US, I am now going to try timing my work to come out in the morning in some parts, which means the evening for me.

Scheduling posts has been helpful, but my reads have declined in the last few weeks.

Here is a list of things that I think may have an impact on your reads based on my experience:

1: The timing of your pieces — messing around with the timing of your publishing can actually help you find a good curve.
