The vulnerability of writing

My writing can come off as cynical and self-deprecating, as well as angry.
I was thinking about what my reasoning is for writing the other day. Do you know what yours is? Are you trying to make money, tell your story, or get free therapy? Or maybe it’s all of the above.
What is your purpose?
When I write about topics it is not to claim some perpetual victimhood or adopt some self-righteous stance or overshare. The purpose is to show a side that might not have been considered before. To see things from a different angle.
People are forgetting that there is more than one side to a story and that their experience is not the same experience that everyone else has had. If you can do that with humour — people react very differently. If you can highlight it with your lived examples, this can provoke people to look at your situation in a new light.
People are missing out on empathy or a willingness to listen to different experiences outside of their narrow view of the world. Some people definitely need to see that things are not always as they perceive them and perhaps take this on board when being so quick to blame or criticize.
