Not Like the Other Girls
When women see other women as competition.
It’s often used in arguments against feminism that ‘women are worse to each other than men’ as an attempt to deflect the conversation away from issues that women regularly experience with men. While there’s quite a lot to unpick in that sentiment (so much to unpick), there is a nugget of truth of it, but only when dealing with a small subsection of a certain type of woman.
Firstly let’s establish here that just because I’m a feminist does not mean that I think women are above being dickheads. Women can suck… because, well… we’re people. For the purposes of this post, I’m just going to stick to a certain type of woman that I find problematic, and while I feel a bit sad for them, I don’t particularly want to associate with them.
The type of women I’m talking about are the ones who proudly proclaim that they are ‘not like the other girls,’ or what are also known as ‘the pick me assed bitches.’ These are the women that declare they are different from all the other women, who obviously exist as one large amorphous blob. If you want to call it that, this philosophy makes them feel special for not acting like a typical woman… whatever that actually means.
They drink beer. They like sports. They eat food. Because although it’s obviously completely fine for a woman to like any of these…
