I think your descriptions of the different types of men at the start, although initially posing a good question, don’t negate the answer many women gave as to why they chose the bear.

There is no way to tell any of that when encountering a man and a men (for example Ted Bundy) could misrepresent who they are and the threat they pose in this hypothetical situation.

I’ll use an overused analogy about the bear situation - there are 3 poisoned sweets but you’re given 100. Do you eat any of them? They all look the same. Of course not. So for a woman it’s better to err on the side of caution.

Also I’ve never heard cheat or manipulate used as reasons they’d choose the bear either. More that they are scared for their life, or at least wary.
