Are you an introverted extrovert?

Having the best of both worlds

It may seem a bit like an oxymoron, but you can actually be an introverted extrovert or ‘ambivert’. It does seem these days you have to be one thing or another, but in real life usually everything is not that black and white.

For example, I would say that I am an introverted extrovert. Why? Simply put, I am very happy in my own company, but I’m not shy when around others. I love being on my own, but I’m not scared of people, even people I don’t know. I’d rather be in a small group, but even if a stranger annoys me they’ll find out pretty quickly.

People with this personality type are those who would rather be in their own company but don’t mind when they do have people around them. Sometimes they seem to come across as calm and confident people but behind closed doors, they can be as anxious as people who are introverted.

In my case, I may come across similarly, but it’s more that I don’t care about meeting new people. In my mind, I have all the friends that I need right now, and although I’m not unfriendly, I won’t go out of my way to make any new ones. I’m opinionated and probably have the air of an older goth/emo about me. I sit there quietly, not with hostility but with what some people have said seems like a ‘coolness,’ which is simply me, just being me.
